The price, quality, aesthetic and overall style have cumulated to create something extraordinary, a Mecca of French-girl-meets-everyday fashion. They also rarely, if ever, have sales. Here is my honest review of Sezane, on a real a. A, I got no waist. This translates to me wearing a S-M in most clothes, falling somewhere awkwardly in the middle. As a general rule, for me, I tend to order one size up from whatever the model is wearing.
Here it will tell you if you should generally size up, down or order true to size. Some of the silk items are cheaper than the polyester. This is how you find the best quality on Sezane. In my effort to build a capsule, quality-over-quantity wardrobe, a good-fitting silk shirt is my jam. I have forever been in love with Equipment silk shirts, having nabbed one at a sample sale in London clearly, I could not afford one at the full price-tag.
It is called the boy shirt, after all. This shirt was actually the best-fitting shirt of the bunch. The cut, the way it hangs on the body, the seams, the sleeve length — everything — scream of quality craftmanship.
This was definitely the right size for me, and I happily snuck this beaut into my closet for keeping. However, if I were to need a new Ecru one, the cut and style of the Ann is very similarso this would be my choice! This dress is the one I deliberated about the most. The dress was a bit loose in the chest and around the arms.
In reality, I probably needed a Size 7, which is what often happens to me in dresses.

I actually liked the fit even more with a good iron as you can see here — wrinkles galore! Mainly because of how much it gapped and showed my bra! Lesson learned with Sezane: if between sizes, choose your smaller size.
I love the sleeves! Highly recommend! Blogging probs. I have to say — so sorry, Sezane! I expected the leather to be a slightly soft, buttery feel. Most of us will have heard of Nasty Gal, the online retailer founded by Sophia Amoruso who originally launched her company by selling vintage clothes from her eBay account.
Now imagine a French version. Replace Amoruso with Morgane Sezalory and you have an understated Gallic equivalent. Sezalory started her now hugely popular label Sezane by selling vintage finds on eBay and, in a matter of years, turned it into a lucrative fashion brand whose collections sell out within days. I'm not sure if she realises that I wouldn't be doing Sezane without her. At the time, Sezalory had just finished studying and was living in Paris.
She knew she wanted to be creative, but had no idea what way. She was juggling part time jobs, but decided to pursue the eBay business, scouring jumble sales, second hand shops and market stalls for vintage finds. My friends said I could find a rubbish bag and sell it as a dress. I started to grow a following pretty quickly and it made me realise that the internet offered an opportunity.
It was an incredible tool that would enable me to invent my own job. Prompted by a combination of eBay's dated aesthetic and the queues at the post office, Sezalory decided to launch her own platform named Les Composantes. It was a clever, novel idea - every month Sezalory would host an online 'rendezvous' where she'd curate customised vintage pieces to go live at the same time.
These would sell out in minutes and served as the push she needed to finally launch her own line, Sezane - a mix of her first and second name.
It was around that time that she met her now husband Thibault Lougnon, who also acts as one of two of her business partners. And so in - with the help of business partners Lougnon and Corentin Petit - Sezane was born; vintage-inspired, understated feminine pieces that are easy to wear - from loose silk shirts and flippy floral skirts to embroidered white T-shirts and pretty dresses.
What truly marked the brand out from its contemporaries such as Maje and Sandro was its decision to launch as an online store, rather than with a standalone shop. It was, in fact, the first label in France to do so, creating beautifully styled images that shoppers loved. But my customers came via word of mouth so we grew anyway. And I might not look like a rebel, but I am inside and I knew what I was doing.
Last year, the brand opened its first bricks and mortar store, L'Appartement in Paris open from Wednesday to Saturday. It's an expansive space which also boasts a mini cinema in its basement perfect for bored men accompanying their partners shoppinga library next door where customers can read over a coffee, as well as a free photo booth. It's a chic, yet welcoming environment to shop and, on days of new drops, there are queues round the building.
It's very important to me that the woman feels well considered and well treated. We want her to feel good in our clothes and in our store. Sezalory has grown with her brand - now 32 and married with two small children, she is a poster child for the potential of the digital world.

In 36 months, we have multiplied the proportion of eco-friendly materials in our collections by 7. Organic cotton, certified materials, recycled polyester and vegetable-tanned leather form the majority of our collections.
We have chosen three of the most credible labels: GOTS to guarantee the organic status of our textiles, Oeko-Tex Standard to confirm the absence of harmful, chemical substances, and finally FSC License code FSC-C to ensure that our viscous originates from sustainably managed forests. All our new models in denim are created using organic and GOTS certified cotton, and the water used during their production is recycled. The eco-friendly washing process consumes 2 times less water than traditional washing methods.
Our leisurewear line is equally composed of pieces made from lyocell and recycled polyester or GOTS certified cotton. A responsible production model without intermediaries, without overproduction or sales. Our choice of materials is based on four main criteria: strength and durability, price, environmental impact, and the quality of the feel and finish.
These four aspects are taken into consideration at each stage of the production process, allowing us to optimize our production practices and create high-quality collections at affordable prices. Before selecting our materials, we consider their carbon footprint, the amount of waste and pollution they generate, and the quantity of water and farmland required for their production.
Whenever possible, we pick those materials which have the lowest impact on the environment. Every day, we seek to refine this selection process by choosing those materials which are the least harmful to the environment, all the while taking into consideration the criteria that are necessary for creating beautiful collections.

And may we never forget what defines us. That was the first thing we decided. But it was also a duty. Offer quality collections, thought-up and designed with love, with an obsession: make women beautiful, for the fairest price.

I hope I will still be able to say this next year, and the year after. More than anything else, we create a human relationship with them, one which is equal and long-lasting. This choice to put the human part at the center, along with respect and benevolence, is a choice we aim to apply at every level: at the production level of course, but also towards you, our clients, our partners and our team members who are so committed.
This choice has always been at the back of my mind, but for a while now I have delayed it.
